That's me in the photo, behind the baby. I have worked in asset management for over nine years – most of that time in Nunavut. I went to high school in Pond Inlet and went to Iqaluit to further my career. Iqaluit was my home for six years after I met my wife and started my family.
I was the Municipal Assets Information Officer for the Government of Nunavut (2019-2023) and Materials Coordinator for the City of Iqaluit (2017-2019). I have a deep understanding of municipal assets in Nunavut, including the Asset Planner software, and an extensive procurement network who have experience supplying goods and services to Nunavut.
I started my asset management career in Pond Inlet in 2001 after attending high school there. I grew my asset management career in Iqaluit from 2017 to 2023. I have formal training from a southern institution that taught me the global methods and standards but yet, they don't fit in Nunavut. Our communities and municipalities have unique needs and circumstances. My experience is completely tailored to that, and so is everything I do and teach through my business.
It was a difficult decision for us, but my wife was offered a promotion that required a move to Yellowknife. She would not have been able to advance in her career with her employer in Nunavut. However, we still have strong ties to the territory and I'm only a flight away.
